Environmental Services
Rising costs, new legislation, and increased environmental awareness make salvage and the management of the waste from your building site a task for experts.
And it's our expertise and lengthy experience in all areas of demolition and deconstruction work that is your guarantee that we can tackle your project. From first consultation through to your project's completion, Metro ensure the correct personnel and equipment are on site and that all work is carried out efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
By continually investing in our plant and machinery, we use the latest technological innovations to make sure we give you the best possible service. It also means we keep up to date with the most current legislative requirements. A typical sign of our dedication to investment is our new crusher - one of the few in the country owned directly by an independent contractor.
Pre-demolition Consultation
Before we begin a demolition project, Metro will advise you of the latest legislation concerning recycling and salvage. We'll also help identify any material on site that can be reused.
Whether you bring us on board to carry out demolition services, asbestos survey and removal services, or remediation services, you can be sure that our skilled staff and our specialised plant offer the best possible recycling, salvage, and waste disposal options.
On-site Recycling
With the need to maximize the earnings potential of any new structure, there is growing pressure on developers to recover and reuse more materials on site.
Metro's own crusher processes brick, concrete, and general rubble from the deconstruction and leaves the result on site for use in the rebuild. Even in the case of ACMs, Metro separates materials that can be recycled and processes them accordingly.
Salvage
Although a strict adherence to health and safety issues means that demolition work now rarely involves the use of hand tools, Metro's sophisticated deconstruction techniques and expertise allow us to combine safe working with maintaining the integrity of materials.
Much of the recycling done now at sites is about reusing material in other forms. Bricks, for example, are commonly crushed and reused as aggregate. True recycling means deconstructing a building in a way that leaves the greatest proportion of its materials as possible in a condition suitable to be reused in a similar fashion.
Waste Disposal
When materials from the site cannot be reused or recycled, such as recovered wood and metal, Metro will manage their disposal in compliance with all relevant waste management legislation.
Health & Safety
We ensure all relevant Metro staff are fully trained in all areas of deconstruction. We also make it our business to study and conform to all the legislative requirements in the areas of recycling, waste disposal, and salvage.
